About Donna Fields Goldstein
Appointed in 2003 as a Judge with the Los Angeles Superior Court by Governor Gray Davis, Donna Fields Goldstein presently hears all unlimited civil cases from the city’s North Central District, including pretrial motions, trials, and settlement conferences. Before accepting the assignment, Donna Fields Goldstein sat as Family Court Judge and Misdemeanor Trial Judge in Los Angeles and Pomona, California.
Donna Fields Goldstein came to her judicial appointment with more than 30 years’ experience in the realm of law. She graduated cum laude from the Rutgers School of Law in 1972 and immediately undertook a position as a Trial Attorney with the United States Department of Justice, where she engaged in civil rights legislation. In her role, she successfully brought suit against the Trump Organization for race discrimination in rental housing; in addition, she stewarded the first case for the Justice Department in sex discrimination in lending. Fields Goldstein subsequently served as Assistant United States Attorney with the Central District of California, specializing in defense against employment discrimination and class-action suits.
She continued to practice employment law as her career transitioned into the private sphere. Working for several private firms from 1980 to 2003, Fields Goldstein focused on representing management in employment discrimination, wrongful termination, and other related claims. Her expertise in the subject led her to lecture extensively as well as chair the Labor and Employment section of the Century City Bar Association. She has also served as a member of the Southern California Leadership Council’s NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund (now Legal Momentum) and on the Friends of Child Advocates’ Board of Directors.
Fields Goldstein supports animal-rights issues and contributes to pet-rescue organizations such as Pet Orphans of Southern California and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She enjoys needlepoint, reading, skiing, and traveling in her spare time.
